2012 Olympic Athletes to Watch: Ashton Eaton

Ashton Eaton is one of the best decathletes to watch out for in 2012. Ashton Eaton was born on January 21, 1988. He is listed at 6′ 1″ and 185 lbs. This track and field star athlete specializes in the men’s decathlon.

Ashton Eaton is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. Eaton currently holds the world record in both the decathlon and heptathlon events and is a two-time medalist (one gold, one silver) at the World Championships. Ashton Eaton set the world record in the the decathlon today at the USA Olympic trials with 9,039 points. Eaton is now considered one of the best athletes in the world and will be someone to keep an eye on in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Bryan Clay Disqualified in 110 meter hurdles in Decathlon Trials

2008 Olympic gold medalist Bryan Clay was disqualified in the 110 meter hurdles to the USA Olympic trials for the decathlon. Bryan Clay was initially disqualified from the decathlon 110m hurdles on for two infractions. One was knocking over a hurdle with his hand and the other was for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle.

Clay’s coach protested the disqualification and the ruling for Clay’s hand knocking over the hurdle was overturned. The disqualification for failure to attempt to clear the next hurdle, however, was upheld.

Clay ended up with no mark in the hurdles and did not qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. Clay would have had the opportunity to be the first decathlete to win 3 Olympic medals.

Bryan Clay is a U.S. decathlete to watch out for in 2012. Bryan Clay was born on January 3, 1980. This American athlete specializes in the decathalon. He is currently listed at 5′ 10” and 185 lbs. Bryan Clay was born in Azusa, CA.

Bryan Clay is definitely one of the 2012 Olympic athletes to watch. The winner of the decathlon usually gets the the title of “World’s Greatest Athlete.” After getting the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics, Bryan Clay earned the title in 2005 as the World Champion and again in 2008 as the Olympic Gold medalist in the decathlon. Clay can make Olympic history this year by becoming the only decathlete to win three Olympic medals.
